College selection can be an extremely exhausting and daunting process. With over 4000 universities in the US to choose from, students invariably forego thorough, investigative research and opt instead for a school recommended by a friend. But what best fits one student may not be the right option for her friend. Below, we have outlined 3 components which will help identify a school that is a good match for you.
LOCATION
In real estate, location is everything, and the same can be said for colleges. When considering location, consider weather and climate, cost of living, rural or urban setting, availability of public transportation, closeness of family, and population demographics.
MAJOR
Majors are increasingly becoming more specific and individualized. Find a college that has just the right major for your desired career goals.
COST
Tuition costs can vary from as little as $15,000 per year to as much as $40,000 per year. The trick is in finding the best value-for-money school. Indicators of quality include competitive admissions requirements, a low student-to-faculty ratio, availability of library and computer facilities, extensive academic and personal counseling and student support services, diverse student population, and high retention rates.
TRANSCRIPTS
American National College is an extension campus of Patten University ( Oakland , CA , USA ) and an International Program Center for University of Missouri - Rolla and of Northwood University ( Michigan , USA ).
Official transcripts are issued only by Patten University and Northwood University and are mailed directly to the university of your choice. ANC can provide you with an Academic Progress Report. However, this is only an indication of your academic standing and cannot be considered an official transcript.
Because we are an offshore campus, transcript requests take more time than if you were a mainland US student - approximately 3 months. Keep this in mind when requesting transcripts.
VISAS
The US Embassy seeks to ensure that all applicants are bona fide students. This means that students should demonstrate good grades, a prestigious university, the finances to cover the duration of the degree program, and intent to return to Sri Lanka .
The transfer process is without doubt a complex process and needs time, energy and dedication. Fortunately, we are here to help. It is advisable to see the Student Affairs Officer early for best results.
